Baz Bus only collects and drops off passengers from backpacker hostels that are on the Hostel List. Accommodation costs vary from hostel to hostel.

Average costs: *Camping: from R60 *Dorms: from R100 *Double room: from R220. All accommodation needs to be booked directly with your hostel of choice.

Ticket Information

This package consists of a Hop-on Hop-off ticket from Cape Town to Johannesburg or Pretoria (alternatively start from Johannesburg or Pretoria) plus a Wild Coast Schools project in rural Chintsa. With your Hop-on Hop-off ticket, you decide where you want to stay along the route and how long you want to stay for. Your Hop-on Hop-off ticket has an unlimited time period so you can travel to Chintsa, stop to do the project and then continue with your travels. You can choose between a 2 week, 4 week, 5 week or 6 week Volunteer project.

An additional R80 Fuel Levy will be added to all ticket prices over R700.

» WILD COAST SCHOOLS PROJECT

Be a part of the amazing experience of bringing computer literacy to this beautiful coastal region of South Africa and enable disadvantaged kids from rural South Africa to have a chance at a realistic future.

In addition to teaching in our rural Wild Coast schools, volunteers take part in running Community Development initiatives. Current initiatives include a Sports Development initiative with local Chintsa children. Volunteers also support a local orphanage where they help the children with their homework and spend some valuable one-on-one time with them.

This project comes highly recommended and offers volunteers the chance to become part of the local community where they can really make a difference. We always ask our volunteer teachers what the highlight of their experience was and their top highlight is always...the KIDS!

Included: 3 meals per day, all accommodation, highly skilled and knowledgeable project co-ordinators and 24 hour support.

Starts: Projects start every Monday and operate throughout the year except on school holidays. Click here for 2013 start dates

Requirements: Basic computer literacy, basic level of spoken English, a minimum age of 18 and lots of energy and enthusiasm. A background in education or teaching would be a benefit but is not essential.

Our buses only run during the day i.e. they leave Cape Town in the morning and arrive in Port Elizabeth in the evening.

Overnight Stops: Port Elizabeth and Durban are compulsory overnight stopovers.

Shuttle Service: Some of the locations shown on the map are only accessible through the use of Shuttle Services which link to our route. Shuttle Services run independently to Baz Bus and need to be pre-arranged by the traveller. Shuttle costs are payable directly to the hostel offering the service.
